Cochin: 'People's home' a public house construction project envisioned to shelter the homeless people has been launched by Minister AP Anil Kumar. The project initiated by People's Foundation, an NGO supported by Jamate Islami Kerala, is set to realize the dream for a home of 1500 families. A 500 Sq. ft home will be handed over to each families.
Project was declared in a grand function held at Ernakulam Town Hall on Sunday. Jamate Islami Kerala Ameer MI Abdul Azeez presided over the function. MI Shanavas MP inaugurated the conference.
Minister AP Anil Kumar showered the praises on People's Foundation for implementing such a necessitated project in the state. He said the number of people without a piece of land is more than two lakhs. Government has limitations in providing assistance to the homeless. He added that the project launched by People's Foundation can do a lot to relieve the sufferings of many.
Jamate Islami Kerala Ameer MI Abdul Azeez said, the number of homeless people are more than the official estimations and it is above eight lakhs. He also added that it is impossible to move ahead without addressing the homeless people.
People Foundation chairman P. Mujeeb Rahman delivered the welcome note. Panakkad Munvarali Shihab Thangal handed over the contract deed for the first house colony project was to Siddiq Randathani. The first donation to the project was received from PH Ashraf by P. Mujeeb Rahman.
Hibi Eden MLA released the logo of the project. Plan of the house was released by Architect G. Shankar. Welfare Party state general secretary Thennalapuram Radhakrishnan released the video of promo video. Fr. Robi Kannanchira released the project documentary. Online application system was inaugurated by CH Rahim.
Justice PK Shamsuddin released the brochure of the project by handing over it to Adv. TPM Ibrahim Khan. Jamate Islami General Secretary MK Mohammed Ali delivered the closing note.
