As part of the ‘Arise Meppadi’ rehabilitation project launched by the People’s Foundation for the rehabilitation of Chooralmala-Mundakai landslide survivors, assistance will be provided to one hundred small self-employment enterprises. The interviews and project verification to select beneficiaries from among the applicants interested in starting self-employment enterprises have been completed. The interviews were conducted over three days at the People’s Foundation Regional Center in Kappamkolli, Meppadi and were led by former Joint Director of the Industries Department, K.T. Abdul Majeed, People’s Foundation Vice Chairman, M. Abdul Majeed, Secretary Engineer Ayyub Tirur and Project Director Dr. Nishad V.M.
Out of more than 150 applicants, 100 people included in the priority list prepared on the basis of beneficiary criteria and project evaluation will be provided assistance. In addition to financial assistance, technical and legal assistance will also be provided. The ‘Revival Project’ prepared by the People’s Foundation for the rehabilitation of 77 commercial establishments in Mundakai and Chooralmalai that were damaged in the landslide is in its final stages. As part of the project, 64 establishments have been reopened.
