Kozhikode/Kakkur: A house is being built for a sportsperson who has won national recognition in cycle polo. A house is being built for Chakkalakkal Higher Secondary School student Muhammed Shanid under the school’s ‘Sahapathikkoru Sammana’ project in collaboration with the People’s Foundation. The construction of the house was inaugurated by Kakkur Grama Panchayat President Shaji C.M in the presence of ward member I.P. Rajesh, K.Mohanan, V.K. Seena and others on the land provided by the People’s Foundation at Aaroli Poil, Punnassery. People’s Foundation District Patron Faisal Paingotayi was the chief guest. Headmaster Shanthakumar TK presided over the function. ‘MediaOne TV’ had made it news that Mohammed Shanid, a Chakkalakkal Sports Academy player who excelled in the 2024 national competition held in Maharashtra for the Kerala Association team, does not have his own house. This brilliant student, who has already won many prizes in school sports, including at the state level, is a 10th grade student of Chakkalakkal Higher Secondary School.
Mohammed Shanid is the eldest son of Zakir Hussain and Raihana, natives of Chakkam Kadavu, Kozhikode. A couple with four children, without their own land or house, have been living in rented houses in various parts of the country for more than a decade. The Arambram native, who witnessed the plight of cancer patient Zakir Hussain while he was undergoing treatment at a medical college, arranged a rented house for the family in Kottakavayal two years ago. As the disease worsened, the family was unable to go to work every day and was hampered by treatment, and the only support was the income of his wife Raihana, who works as a wage laborer. Upon learning of this, he came forward to arrange a house for the family under the School ‘Sahapadikkoru Sneha Sammanam’ Scheme. For this purpose, an account has been opened in the name of Headmaster Shanthakumar T.K. and People’s Foundation Local Representative M.P. Abubacker Chakkalakkal at Indian Overseas Bank Madavoor Branch A/c 334101000014375 IFCS IOAB0003341. The aim is to complete the house construction in a timely manner with the cooperation of the public and rehabilitate the family. The first amount for the construction work was received by Convener Latheef Master from P. Abdurrazak as Sahapadikkoru Sneha Sammanam. School Manager P.K. Sulaiman Master, Principal M.
