Kanivu People’s Care Centre

People’s Foundation, a social service initiative dedicated to fostering positive change in Kerala society, aims to establish and manage a Medical Care Center near the Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode. The project encompasses a medical guidance center, an accommodation facility for financially disadvantaged patients and their caregivers, and a medical pharmacy. Kozhikode Medical College is a government medical college that serves as a crucial healthcare provider for ordinary families from Malabar districts such as Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Malappuram, and Palakkad, offering super-specialty treatment. Although both government and non-government facilities exist to support the poor patients who seek care here, they remain insufficient. Thousands of patients require various types of services, and the demand far exceeds the available resources. The Kanivu People’s Medical Care Center aims to provide much-needed relief to at least some of these patients.

Services Offered

Low-cost accommodation for patients and caregivers in need of long-term treatment

The Guidance Center, spanning 12,282 square feet, will feature 60 beds.

Medical Guidance Center

The center will provide reliable information to ordinary patients about the best hospitals, treatment methods, doctors, and related facilities available for specialist care. It will also offer guidance on various medical assistance schemes implemented by government and non-government organizations, helping patients secure the financial support needed for treatment. The initiative will be supported by some of the most eminent doctors and leading hospital systems in Kerala.

Medical Pharmacy

People's Foundation will procure medicines directly from manufacturers. These medicines will be distributed through the project to patients and institutions, including palliative care centers committed to social welfare, at only the production cost. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the cost of medicines and make medical equipment available at more affordable prices.

Key Program

Foundation stone laid for Kanivu People's Care Centre

The foundation stone of the Kanivu People's Care Centre, which is being built near Kozhikode Medical College under the the People's Foundation, was laid. The centre is being built nearest medical college. The project envisages providing accommodation at low cost to patients and their caregivers who are not admitted to Kozhikode Medical College for long-term treatment, a medical guidance centre that provides advice on specialist treatment available at a reasonable cost, and a pharmacy that provides medicines and medical equipment at low cost. People will be able to get information about various medical assistance schemes implemented by government and non-government organizations to raise funds for treatment through the People's Care Center.

Minar Group of Companies MDA A. Muhammed Shafi performed the foundation stone laying ceremony. People's Foundation Chairman P.I. Noushad presided over the function. People's Foundation Project Director K. Abdurahim explained the scheme. Kozhikode Corporation Councilor E.M. Soman, Ethical Medical Forum State President Dr. Muhammad Ismail, Jamaat-e-Islami Kozhikode District General Secretary R.K. Abdul Majeed, Kozhikode City Secretary Ashkar, CH Center President K.P. Koya, Helping Hand Charitable Trust Secretary Naufal Paris, Sahay Wadisalaam Secretary Shamsuddin Peruvayal, Jamaat-e-Islami Women's Wing Kozhikode District President Ayesha Habib, and People's Foundation Secretary Ayyub Tirur spoke. Kaniv People's Care Center Chairman Dr. P. C. Anwar welcomed the gathering, and Kanivu Charitable Trust Chairman V.P. Basheer concluded.
