Rebuilding Kerala: The Government and the People of the state must join together

Kozhikode: The leaders of People’s Foundation, who visited the areas affected by recent flood in Kerala, stated that the government and the people of the state should work together for effectively rebuilding Kerala. 

The visiting team was jointly led by JIH’s(Jama’at-e-IslamiHind )national Vice Presidents Nussrat Ali and T. Arifali. The team also visited relief camps and volunteer camps in various parts of Wayanad, Malappuram and Thrissur districts.Thousands of people who do not own land or house have been badly affected by the flood. Hence, in addition to the measures taken by the government system, NGOs have to take wider initiatives in ensuring appropriate rehabilitation of the displaced and affected people, said Nusrat Ali. He assured all support in renovation work and revealed that the organisation’s units in all sates of the country have been asked to support Kerala to recover. T. Arifali, another Vice President of JIH, said that, since the rescue operations are over, a detailed study of the disaster management and plan for the rehabilitation activities will be carried out by the foundation. He also praised the government of Kerala, the people and the NGOs who adventurously led the recovery activities.MI Abdul Aziz, the Kerala State President of JIH, MK Muhammed Ali (General Secretary), Sheikh Mohammed Karakkunnu,VT Abdulla Koya, P. Mujeeb Rahman (all Vice Presidents), KK Mammuni Moulavi (Human Welfare Foundation representative), PM Salih (State President – Solidarity Youth Movement), CT Suhail (State President, SIO), Malik Shahabas (Wayanad district president – JIH), Sadiq Uliyil, Shameer CK, and Nawaz K also accompanied the team.
